Ed has been with the REMADE Institute since December 2017 where he is responsible for developing and managing a portfolio of technology development projects with a focus on recovery and recycling of materials including fibers, polymers and metals and integration of those materials into the manufacturing supply chain. Ed is the Principal Investigator for the New York State Waste Tire Program. Under this Program, REMADE solicits and provides grants to organizations to develop and/or demonstrate technology that will increase the beneficial use (including re-use, retreading and recycling) of end-of-life tires (ELT) generated in New York State.
Prior to joining REMADE, Ed was with Argonne National Laboratory for 32 years. During his career at Argonne, he conducted and managed R&D to develop advanced sustainable manufacturing processes, in collaboration with the iron and steel, aluminum, chemicals and polymers, automotive and recycling industries.
He holds 14 patents and has authored more than 125 papers on energy and sustainable technology. His work has been recognized through numerous awards including the University of Chicago Distinguished Performance Award and the Intellectual Law Property Association of Chicago Inventor of the Year Award, among others.
