Kentucky Energy and Environment Cabinet, Division of Waste Management, Recycling and Local Assistance Branch

Jon Durbin, Kentucky Energy and Environment Cabinet, Division of Waste Management, Recycling and Local Assistance Branch. My title is “Environmental Scientist Advisor”, but I’m essentially the project manager for the Rubber-Modified Asphalt Grant in Kentucky. I have been in this role since April 2025, but have been with the Cabinet in various roles since July 2012. The best part of my job is getting to meet people across Kentucky that participate in the Rubber-Modified Asphalt Grant. We all have the same goal of making Kentucky a cleaner place by reusing tires that would otherwise be placed in a landfill or littered, and paving roads that all Kentuckians can benefit from. This creates a market for waste tires that will hopefully be sustainable long term across the Bluegrass State. I’m a life-long Kentucky resident, and live in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky with my wife, Chelsea, and two kids, Kate (age 6), and Willy (age 4). Outside of work my hobbies are hunting, fishing, and traveling with my family.
