Dr. Zhanping You is a Distinguished Professor and University Professor in the Department of Civil, Environmental, and Geospatial Engineering at Michigan Technological University, where he also serves as Director of the Michigan Tech Transportation Institute. He is internationally recognized for his work in sustainable pavement engineering, with a particular focus on the utilization of recycled tire rubber in asphalt materials.
Dr. You has led more than 100 externally funded research projects and implemented over 30 full-scale field demonstrations involving rubber-modified asphalt mixtures and chip seals across the United States. His work advances high-rubber-content technologies, performance-based design, and field validation under cold climate conditions. He has collaborated extensively with state agencies, industry partners, and environmental programs to promote large-scale applications of scrap tire-derived materials.
He has published over 400 peer-reviewed papers and serves as Associate Editor for ASCE journals. A Fellow of ASCE and the Engineering Mechanics Institute, Dr. You is committed to advancing circular economy solutions and sustainable infrastructure through innovative engineering practices.
